Do chickens tell secrets?

... 'Cause, I think maybe these two were sharing a secret.

Or maybe, they were plotting their attack.

I'm pretty sure that they weren't particularly fond of being photographed.

This white one looks all cute and sweet.
She came up to me and wandered around my feet plucking bugs off the ground
that is... until she decided to peck at my leg!

Not cool, chicken, not cool.

(Unless, of course, she was plucking a bug off my leg.  In which case, thank you very much.)

This guy made a lot of noise...
did a lot of cock-a-doodle-dooing while giving me the "side-eye."

Then he decided to come down from his perch and bring that side-eye a little closer to me.

When Mr. Foghorn Leghorn started to make a bee-line for me,
I decided to back off.

I was pretty sure that I had enough chicken pictures for one day.
And you know...
Once plucked, Twice shy.

Scary Iguana...

Also known as... "When good iguanas go bad."
Or... "how to defend your territory in 10 easy steps."
It all started out rather quietly.
Two iguanas, one desired territory.
They approach...

They posture and hiss...

One backs off, the other boasts a bit...

The loser decides to try again and something like this happens.

That wasn't so bad, but then someone gets mad!

And it's all down hill from there.

Ignore the squeals and such.   We were quite surprised by all the violence.
The battle went on for quite some time.
Fortunately for us, we had front row seats on a nearby picnic table and were able to watch the show in relative comfort.
(Shade is good and so is a really long lens!)
We got tired long before the iguanas did.
Just as we were packing up to leave a Military Policeman came by and broke up the fight
(It's good to know that the MP's have a use other than making sure no one was breaking the 25mph speed limit.)
I guess we'll never know who the victor would have been.

I took a LOT of pictures.
These are just a few of my favorite action shots.
Sorry if this post is picture overload!

A wild sight

Or more accurately... a wildlife sighting.
Julia was in her room and caught sight of this little guy in our "swamp."
He was a cutie and posed well.
Thank you, Mr. Turtle for providing material for my 200th post!
(Never thought I'd make it there.)

Bird Sightings

For all the bird geeks out there.... you know who you are!
Julia spread some bird seed along the top of our deck railing recently and we've been getting quite a few visitors. Our favorite ones are these cardinals. They've been with us all winter, but this is the closest we've been to them. They are very quick to fly away if there is any movement, so we have to be very careful and very slow, but I managed to get my camera and take a couple of shots. I feel lucky to have this shot of the two of them together.
The little lady looks like she's giving her guy an earful!
While I'm at it, I thought I'd throw in a few pictures that Kevin and Natalie took while they were out on a walk.
A woodpecker....

and a pair of mallard ducks.
