ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?

That is the temperature reading on our car.

As Julia put it... "Holy Hotness, Batman!!"

This temperature was taken as we were driving through Mesquite, NV. We had to stop there for gas and McDonalds. As I was standing on line, I so wanted to ask the cashier, "Why? Why on earth do you live here?" Really, I just don't get it.
This dry heat is drying all of us up. Our skin is just giving up and the first layer of skin on all of our faces is just flaking off. Yuck. What kind of moisturizer do they use here? I'd really like to know.

Dam!

We went to the Hoover Dam, but we didn't take the dam tour, just took alot of dam pictures.

Julia wanted to know why they called it a dam if it wasn't built by beavers. :0)

You can tell which things Kevin actually thinks are cool, by the places he allows me to take his picture. The sun was pretty bright here, so it was difficult for the kids to look at the camera.

I know that the dam is supposed to be a modern marvel and a feat of human engineering, but it was the bridge that they are building that amazed me the most. It's huge! Very cool to see it under construction.

Las Vegas

Whoops! Wow... I made these pictures big. Don't assume that means I liked Las Vegas best. Vegas was okay, but what we liked the best about it was the hotel that we stayed in. It was located about 5 miles south of the strip, but had an amazing pool with water slides and our "room" was more of a small apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, dining room and full kitchen. We could have just stopped there and stayed for weeks.

One of the highlights of Las Vegas was M&M's World! The kids loved it there. Four floors of m&m everything. Julia bought purple m&m's and Quincy got a t-shirt.

Another cool thing was the lions at MGM. We just happened to show up just as they were getting ready to feed the lions. That's Julia's head there watching the lion lick the meat off of the glass. There's a short video clip of the lions at the bottom of the posting.

Julia said that she wanted to see the Eiffel tower, now we don't have to go to France.

Rhyolite, Nevada Ghost Town

Just on the Nevada side of Death Valley was a ghost town that we decided to stop and see. It was so hot there that I didn't have to wonder why no one wanted to live there anymore. However, since then we've been in lots of other places that were even hotter that were very well populated. I guess I'm just not a hot weather kind of girl, dry heat or not.
