After San Francisco, we drove to Yosemite, another winding but scenic drive. Our first sights were Bridal Veil falls and El Capitan.
Our home for the night was a "tent" cabin with three sides made of cinder blocks and the fourth just a canvas curtain. We had to make sure that all of our food and toiletries (anything that smells good) was put away in a bear-proof storage container. We even had to take Julia's booster seat out of the car because bears have learned that car seats often contain some yummy leftovers! Fortunately, we did not have any run-ins with a bear, but we did kind of hope to see a bear while we were in Yosemite.
Grant attempted to start a fire by rubbing two sticks together, but it didn't really work. Once I pulled out the matches and firewood, Kevin and Grant did a much better job of getting the fire going.
Olmsted point was much less crowded than Yosemite Valley. We were able to spend some time scrambling over the rocks and enjoying the view.

I loooove the scenery!!! It's sooo beautiful! And the pics of the family are priceless... i love the look on julia's face where she's pretending to fall off the rock.
Colleen, your photos are great!! What kind of camera are you using? It's good to see all of you having a good time. What were Dan and Julia discussing on the log?
it looks like such a pretty place. What a nice "vacation" you are getting. I love all the pictures
Mom... just using a little Canon power shot. It's not fancy, but it takes good pictures outside. The indoor pics are hit and miss. High temp in Death valley when we were there between 8 and 10am was 105 or so. Since then we've seen much higher temps. UGH!!
