I'm kind of freaking out right now...

I wasn't going to post anything today, but I needed a moment to scream and thought that I'd do it here.

I'm having a bit of a... day.  And when I say that I'm having "a... day", I really mean that I'd like to fill in the blank with any expletive or otherwise negative word that I can think of, but for the most part I'm leaving all those words safely tucked inside of my own little head.

You could even say that I'm having a bit of a... week.  Now, so many good and wonderful things have happened this week that I really shouldn't complain, but it's the little things around the house that are driving me crazy.

My washing machine has been on the blink for a while now.  I've been able to coerce it into working, but it's not happy at all.   The digital display read "F1", so I looked it up in the manual.

Well... at least now I know what the "F" stands for!

The dryer decided to get in on the game and now the dryer's door latch is broken so I can't shut the door, so I can't dry anything.  (I have been happily air drying everything and not stressing about this particular incident, but today has been a... day and everything is that much more annoying!)

I spent yesterday tracking down a few ants in the family room.  They had found our bottle cap collection and were happily getting drunk off of the dried on remains that we didn't think to rinse off.
Bottle caps in garbage, ants destroyed, and no more have returned, so I was feeling okay about that too.

That is... until this morning when I've finally been shoved over the domestic edge.

Damn frikin frackin mice have been in my pantry!!!!!  And they left me this...
These are the pictures that I took to send to the landlord.  The mouse apparently couldn't find it's way back out of the pantry and decided to stand on top of one of my cereal boxes and chew it's way out.    Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

You don't even want to know what the rest of the pantry looked like.  Seriously, I think they had a party last night.
Apparently, Doritos and sunflower seeds were a hit at the little mousie buffet.  :P
I want to think it was just one random mouse, but how much poop can one mouse create?

I do not want to think about this.

I do not want to deal with this.

I want to go home.... this is NOT my home....

Okay, so I've taken my mental break from cleaning out the pantry. (I've thrown sooooo much out!)  Now that I've vented a bit, I think I can go back for the next round.

Sorry... ignore all the whining.   Just ignore me all together right now.  It's okay.

I'm going to go buy a cat.

I feel your pain, Colleen. I don't have any mice at the moment but I have had them in the past and the mess is unbelievable!

We're battling ants right now, too. And a mouse! That would push me over the edge. Hang in there, and I hope this weekend brings you two ... days (with no adjective/expletive needed in the middle). =>

Oh Honey, I'm so sorry. Mice....yuck. I've had my share of insect
pests but never rodents! Remember Mrs. M's favorite saying...."this too
shall pass". I know, it doesn't really help when you are in the
moment, but it will pass. Love you!

Yikes! I think you are handling it very well...I would've made my husband clean out the pantry! I'm super squeamish about bugs and rodents. :( I hope tomorrow is a better day!

Oh my goodness! No wonder you're having a ... day. Damn!! That stinks!! You do NOT have to turn this into a positive or keep your swear words in your head. Sometimes you do, but this situation calls for being upset -- well deserved! I have read some of your blog, but I don't know your whole story. I'll have to stay tuned to find out how the battle with the mouse goes! Good luck, hun.

awww, man. Sorry, that sounds like a rotten day. We recently saw a mouse in our place - freaked me out. I hope tomorrow is a brighter day.

Oh gawd! Mice and ants all in the same day! Yuck. I am so sorry. Ants tend to turn up here now and then...the RAID traps from the grocery store usually have them gone though within a day.

Hang in there!

I just realized that my comment must have sounded very insensitive! I'm not sure if your husband is home or away (and therefore couldn't take care of that mouse problem!). Hopefully those mice leave you alone from now on. :)

Thanks for your response! I'm glad my comment wasn't taken the wrong way. :)

WHat a horrible day! I have plenty of them myself. But I fear if you get a cat to eat the mouse, well the cat will spray all over the house, and if you let the cat out it will come back with kittens, then you'll need a dog and that'll lead to a hog and . . .well, things will get worse instead of better and it will be because of the mouse! lol

Oh how I wish I could borrow you our barn cat! Imagine throwing a mouse into a blender, yes, that's him.

The good news is, when things get this bad... they can only get better, right?

My cats are completely useless when it comes to mousing. Like they are afraid of the dumb mice. Go figure.
