On my mind: Looking at the weekend

On my mind
For Today...
June 17, 2010

Outside my window...Is me!  I'm outside, blogging on the laptop, trying to soak up every bit of this gorgeous day.  Tomorrow the humidity is going to set in and I'll be holing up inside where it's cool, so I want to take advantage of this weather while I can.

I am thinking...  that I wish every summer day were like this, then I would truly love summer.

I am thankful for..ummm, I could go on and on about the weather today, but I'm also thankful for my really great kids.  School is almost out and I'm so pleased with how well they all have done.

I'm wearing...seriously... I may just take this question out of the running, because I'm entirely boring on the fashion front.  How many times can I say t-shirt and capris?  Same, same, same...
Next time I write one of these, I'm going to run upstairs and throw on a dress and a bunch of accessories.  :)

I am remembering...past summer vacations and looking forward to this year's vacation in Maine.  I've been living for this ever since I booked the cabin way back in January!

I am creating...concepts for photo shoots.  It's kind of funny to me that in the last six months or so, I've gone from taking pictures here and there to purposely creating "shots."   I still have a lot to learn, but that's the fun part.

I am going...to start planning for "cousin camp" here at my house.  My sister will be here for two weeks in July and we are going to have fun!  Some ideas include: creating a water world in the backyard, eating ice cream, doing fun science experiments, and maybe some miniature golf here.

I am reading...some stupid Oprah recommended book.  I usually avoid those like the plague, because Oprah and I do NOT have the same taste in literature, but I found the book on the bottom of a shelf and thought that I'd give it a try.  I'm about forty pages in and just have zero interest in it.  I'd tell you what it was if I could remember the title, but I can't.  (and I don't want to go inside to figure it out.)

Song that is playing over and over in my head...E-V-I-L B-O-Y-S

I love Phineas and Ferb.

I am hoping...that we find good tenants to fill our house in Washington State for the next year.  I'm really sad that our current tenants have to move, but I do wish them well.  In the meantime... does anyone know anyone in need of a one year lease on a 4bd/ 3bath house in an area about 45mins north of Seattle?  It's a nice neighborhood and the owners are awesome!  ;)

Noticing that... life is good.  :)

From the kitchen...It's 4:30pm and I still don't know what's for dinner, which probably means that it's a "get your own" kind of day.   That type of dinner has become more and more common around here.  (Unfortunately.)
The kids will be thrilled when my sister comes out to visit, because I might start cooking again!

Around the house...the washer and dryer are still broken despite having a repair guy come out to visit.  He was very nice, but didn't fix a thing.  Basically, he said that he could fix it, but it would cost nearly as much to fix it as it would to buy a new set.  I appreciate his honesty, but what a bummer.

On the upside of that, we just happen to have a spare washer/dryer in the garage that the owners of this house left for us.  All I have to do is find the time/energy to disconnect and remove the ones we have and manhandle the (hopefully) working ones into place.   At least it won't cost anything!

Oh!  Also around the house.... my mouse and ant issue went away as quickly as it arrived.  I'm still crossing my fingers, hoping that there aren't any more mice, but we haven't seen any evidence to say that there are.  So, yay!!
I'm in the process of totally mouse-proofing my pantry.  I'm putting everything into some sort of container, so nothing can get at the food.  Yuck...

One of my favorite things...WINNING!!  Here's my very cool news...  one of my pics from the Washington DC photo walk was picked as a winner by the photo walk leader.  (Thanks, Lolli!)
I'm so excited!!  I won a $50 gift certificate toward a Blurb book.  Perfect!

A few plans for the rest of the week... it's Friday so, I'm nearly done with the week, but tonight I'm going to have a little photo shoot in the backyard with Quincy.  Tomorrow, I'm taking the kids to see Toy Story 3.  I've heard that it doesn't disappoint, I hope that's true!  Sunday, Quincy and Natalie are painting faces at an antique car show, so I'm tagging along and planning to take lots of pics of them at work as well as some pics of the cars.  I love old cars!

A picture I would like to share...

Is it odd that I thought the flower looked almost edible. Like a fruit? And now I crave fruit. Maybe a white flesh peach. Uh-oh! Now I HAVE to have one. They better be in season. Ok, well that was random...

I love my washer/dryer repair man. Harvey has always come through and saved the day (and money) Too bad he doesn't travel, lol.

Congrats again, but you know I am super happy for you.

Oh and jealous, too. A car show! I can't wait until we have a car show (back to the bricks & one in frakenmuth in a month) I'm actually in love with classic cars... and we are the auto state (rolls eyes)

Enjoy your weekend chica!!!

That's awesome that you won the photo walk! We'll be able to some more great pictures this summer up on Maine...that'll be fun. Sorry to hear about the washer/dryer and sorry I'm not home to move the other set into the laundry room (sounds like a job for Kevin). Love you.

YAy yay yay!!! So proud of you for winning- that shot is AWESOME! At first I thought they were fighter jets and then the fact they were geese made it even cooler (If that's possible!.

I tried to focus on most of the post, but I'm so stuck on you blogging outside. How did you do it? I try to haul my laptop outside and put a box around it to cut out glare, but it doesn't always work so spectacularly and Champ laughs- especially since the best boxes are beer boxes and it looks like I'm absorbed in alcohol rather than blogging ;)

Laughed my head off about the clothes and how you are going to accesorize next time.

Have a great fathers day with your family.

The weather around here has been horrendous! Storms all night, hot and humid all day. It seems around here it is hard to get outside in the summer OR winter because of weather. Glad you had some time to enjoy the outdoors!
