November thoughts

It's a gorgeous day outside.  The fog has finally lifted and leaves are steadily falling from the trees making a carpet of leaves on my deck and the yard.  I'm happy that it's November, but also slightly stunned that it's already here.  November means colder days, frosts, and the potential of snow.

It also happens to be my birthday month!  I'll be 39 tomorrow.   That might bother me more, but I've been thinking that I was 39 for a while now.  (Don't know why I was jumping the gun on that one.)  More than that, I think that I've been very aware of the number 40 looming in the not so distant future.  That number definitely causes me to tremble a bit.

November is also NaBloPoMo which I believe stands for National Blog Posting Month.  You're supposed to commit to posting something every day for the month of November.  I make no such promises, but I've been posting fairly regularly, so I don't feel so bad.  However, last November was when I restarted my blogging by posting something I was grateful for every day of the month.  So, although I've had this blog for a few years now, it's only been a year since I've fully embraced it.  And I'm so glad I did.  I'm grateful for all the many wonderful bloggy friends that I've made.  Some of you seem so real to me that I think of you as my friends even though we haven't met "in real life."

This past weekend was full of friends and fun.  We spent all day Saturday at a football game.  Sunday, of course, was Halloween.  (More on that in a couple of days.)  And yesterday, we wandered around Williamsburg, VA with our very good friends.   Today we are tired.  Fortunately, the kids and I have a couple of days off of school to recover a bit, so this morning is nice and quiet.  No one has anywhere to go.  Today has a happy, cozy, holiday feeling to it and I like that a lot.

Oooh! Happy birthday! I know, my 39th birthday this year was no biggie. Probably because I keep forgetting my age. I had to sit down with pencil and paper and do long division to figure it out in August! Weird! Anyways, I'm sure next year will be exciting for both of us! They say that 40 is the new 30; but they also say that 30 is the new 20, so following that line of reasoning, does that make us almost 20? I think so!

Happy fall and birthday, my bloggy friend. ;)

Happy Birthday Month! Enjoy 39 while you can, and don't worry about 40, it's really not so bad. :-)

P.S. Love the pumpkin face.

Welcome to 39! It's nice to know I have someone nipping at my heels on that one. Next year you and I can have a "two fer" cry fest as we hit the big 4-0...though I will beat you by about a week! Happy Birthday my bloggy friend. If it makes you feel any better, 39 still feels like 38...and 37...and 36.

P.S. I can practically hear the leaves crunching in your pic!!

Happy 39th birthday to my oldest! 40 is not really a number you need to tremble at...60...now that's another story. Yikes!! I love this time of year too. This morning was our first frost that we had to scrape off the cars.

Happy EARLY Birthday chica!!!!

I'm so happy that you embrace your blog, because I love your blog. It has been delightful getting to know you.

I'm happy that you are happy... even if there is snow looming in the future (cue very sad music)

Happy Birthday Colleen!! I hope you're having a wonderful birthday, lots of kisses and hugs and beautiful presents! I started blogging in English through NaBloPoMo three years ago. I've "met" a lot of friends that way.

Happy birthday! Don't worry about turning 40 - it's really not that bad, trust me. :)

That poor jack-o'-lanterns has seen better days, I'm afraid. But it's a GREAT photo.
