Wacka-cracka-doo...

Warning!
Total stream of consciousness and crappy pictures coming your way!

So, I haven't blogged in a while.
Not that terribly long, but in blog years it seems like an eternity.
I've been feeling distinctly non-bloggy.
And now that I'm thinking "maybe I should put up a post", I'm coming up with words like wacka-cracka-doo.
(I don't know what that means.)
I also called my daughter a duff-duddle earlier today.  Really?
(I don't know what that means either.)
(that's my birthday pie... no, I did not turn 10... they were the candles I had available)

What have I been doing this week?  Hmmmm... not much.
I did go into DC on Saturday... a-gain!  I really don't usually go that often, but when it rains it pours.
And Quincy had an art class to attend at the museum, so we went.
I brought my camera, but didn't take a single picture.
Wait... I lie... I did take one, but it was decidedly unimpressive.
the kid is cute... the picture... meh

I enjoyed the whole "fall back" thing on Sunday.  It was nice to have a little extra time to relax on a Sunday morning.  And I still feel like I'm sleeping in a bit when I get up at 6am and it feels like 7am.  I don't suppose that will last for very long.  But the downside to all that is the early nights.  Yuck!  I look forward to the winter solstice, or actually the day after the solstice when the light starts to come back to us and we continue to march forward all the way until June.

Now that the weather has turned, my thoughts have also turned to cooking.  I do not cook in the summer.  I don't even want to eat really, but there are others around here who seem to find it important.  Whatever....
Cold weather makes me want to cook.  Yesterday, I made enough soup to feed an army.  I may not cook often, but when I do cook I cook lots!!   I did it on purpose, so I could fill up a whole bunch of single serve containers to freeze so I can have this soup whenever I want.

This brings me to a fork in the road of my conversation... do I want to tell you about the soup guy who doesn't like "runny, hot foods"?  or do I tell you about how incredibly stupid my oven is.
I'll go with the oven, since the soup guy was pretty much a one-liner anyway.

I have an oven.  It's an AGA.  If that means anything to you, then you know more about them than I do.
I think AGA is British for "you paid too much damn money."
Or maybe it's Scottish for "sucker!"
All I know is that it drives me crazy.
Oh, it looks all pretty and fancy on the outside.
And I won't complain about the five burner gas stove top... nope... I really like that part.
But it's the oven that kills me.  The freakin' tiny stupid oven.
That there is an average sized frozen pizza.
In order to fit it in the oven we have to
Cut-it-in-half!
Is that ridiculous or what?

In the second shot up there, you may see the doors for the broiler and the roaster.
Just try baking in one of those.
The roaster only has a heating element on the top so we get burned tops and uncooked bottoms.

I tried making muffins exactly once since we've been here.
(my muffin pans don't fit in the oven... shocker...)
I put them in the roaster... that didn't work out well.

I miss muffins.

Daylight savings time... I know Ben Franklin first thought of it, but it was one of us dumb Canadians that instituted it. You can blame us. (Blame Canada! Now that song is in my head.)

An Aga? Seriously? I've always wanted to see one of those! Those are, like, classic! Useless, but classic! ;) It's annoying about the muffin pan, though. You can either get a new smaller muffin tin or a new stove. Look in the kids toy section for tiny tins. (hee hee!)

I've got unbloggable stuff, and I'm so tempted to mention that in my blog, but that's like saying "I've got something you don't know and I can't tell you" (na-na-na-na-na!) and that's just annoying because, hello! don't talk about it if you can't talk about it! And I don't particularly want to feel like a douche, so I'm just not saying anything on my blog. *sigh* The responsibility is weighing me down. ;)

That oven sounds frustrating! Soup sounds good. I think I need to make some! I know what you mean about feeling anti-bloggy. I kinda go through phases. Like right now it just takes too much time for me to try to make the pics look good. So they have just been thrown on there...I liked your rambling thoughts...I think I just rambled myself! :).

So many times I've written a blog post in my head, complaining about my oven. And my dishwasher. And my dryer.

Damn luxurious modern appliances!

You are seriously clever to cut the pizza in half. I might have just sat down on the floor and cried.

How about figuring out how to use your bbq grill as an oven? That might be an option or buy a 6 cup muffin pan or two.

I think I want to live on soup this winter. At this stage of the game, I hate to cook in summer and winter. Not interested in spending time cooking as soon as I get home from work. Cereal sounds good.

What kind of soup is this?

This post totally made me laugh out loud. :) Thanks for sharing! I get in non-bloggy moods myself. I think it's totally normal. ;)

I often become non bloggy. That is when I take a break, lol! Bloggy breaks feel so goood. And cutting that pizza in half is such a smart idea. I'm so remembering it for the next time. Thanks!

PS. Tag, you are it. lol!
