As is proper!

I do love a good Christmas special.
The Grinch, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Santa Claus is Coming to Town
and so many, many more have made their way into our family traditions
and even our everyday vocabulary.

Maybe, just maybe, you've wondered why my blog is titled "As is Proper."

It's not like I'm blogging all about proper etiquette that's for sure.
I don't even have proper grammar half of the time.

I owe the title of my blog to this man...
The Burgermeister Meisterburger.

Whom we like to quote a lot around here.

"Toys are hereby declared illegal, immoral, unlawful
AND anyone found with a toy in his possession will be placed under arrest
and thrown in the dungeon!"

"You are obviously a nonconformist and a rebel!"

"Ooooooouuuuuuu, I've been bamboozled!"

And of course... "as is proper."

Oh, yeah... he's a cheery guy. ;)
I honestly don't know why we've adopted so many of his phrases,
Maybe because he is just so over the top silly.

Anyhow... I was wondering,
What is your favorite Christmas special and/or what are some of your favorite Christmas movie quotes.

Oh boy! Well, Colleen, I will try really hard to keep this short, but I'm afraid you just found one of my passions: the movie The Christmas Story!

So TBS plays it on repeat for 24 hours Christmas Even into Christmas Day, and my sister and I are glued to it at every free moment because it's just filled with giggle worthy quotes and oh, my, I cannot even begin to explain the funnyness.

I think our favorite line is when Ralphie, the little brother, gets all dressed up in his winter gear and he bellows from under his scarf, "I can't put my arms down!"

Insert side splitting laughter over here.

Anyway, I can relate to just loving a movie and character to pieces like that ... we find ourselves bursting out into song and using quotes even in the middle of the summer. ;)

Ha! Ok, this totally cracked me up.
We like the classic Rudolph as well as Charlie Brown, but I gotta tell you, the new Prep and Landing is definitely a favorite (I think it came out last year) and I can't get enough of Will Ferrell in the movie Elf.
"I just like to smile. Smiling is my favorite."

I like the old non-pc classics: Holiday Inn, White Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life (it doesn't seem like christmas without them), as well as the Santa Claus trilogy. But my all-time favorite Christmas (actually, anytime) movie: Christmas Vacation. Go, Chevy, go!

My other favorite Christmas quote? Evan sang himself to sleep tonight, the 4 yr old version of Jingle Bells... "Jingle Butt".

:D

I think the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe would be a fantastic movie to watch for Christmas ! I love the snow scenes in that fairytale . You can Read "Reading With The Heart", a guide to symbolism and understanding Narnia online for free here

I haven't read it yet .

Have a Great weekend!

We don't watch too much tv yet with Bear, but you know that was on the other night and he and I watch the whole thing together!!!!! I LOVE it too and was secretly thrilled to see Bear enjoying it along with me ;)

His new thing is to request the "watch out" song... you know...
"you'd better watch out, you'd better not cry..."!!!

I'm off to get some holiday shopping done before company arrives. Take care Colleen!
