Can't get much sweeter...

Yesterday was cookie baking day one,
there will be a day two because we got tired
and there is no point in making cookies when you're tired and stressed.
Cookies should be fun.
:)
We cranked up the Christmas music and danced
while we brought out all the ingredients.

We each were responsible for making one batch of cookies.
Quincy made peanut butter blossoms.
Julia made snickerdoodles
and I made molasses gingersnaps.

(Why exactly do all of my Christmas cookies require rolling into little balls?)
Here's the thing that only took me 17 years to learn...
Don't bake them all on the same day!

TOO much work!

Besides, then you're left with a bazillion cookies that you can't possibly eat,
so they go stale and no one wants a stale cookie.

Make the dough, roll the balls and then freeze them.
Take out and bake as you want them throughout the holiday
and you will always have fresh out of the oven cookies !
You can even make just one or two in the toaster oven if you want.

(I'd totally do that if I had a toaster oven.)

Okay... all that cookie talk is sweet and all,
but the absolute sweetest thing that I've seen this week is this...

My newest little niece,
Delilah Adelaide.

Isn't she precious?
I absolutely cannot wait to meet her in person.
I'm just sad that I can't get up and go there right now.  :(

I LOVE your mosaic, Colleen! It's colourful and shows so much all at once.

Good advice abut the cookie baking - and every time you bake it makes the house smell so wonderful.

Your niece is very cute!

Good advice on freezing the dough and baking as needed. Your niece is beautiful.

It never crossed my mind to freeze them balled up for later. Hmmm...

And you give me hope! You have helpers that actually HELP! Someday mine will do more than knock the flour onto the floor and stick their grubby fingers into the bowl. ;)

That's a lot of cookies! We haven't started our baking yet but I think we will tonight. We bake them all and hand out to each family member when we have them over for Christmas dinner.

Adorable baby niece!

That's a fantastic idea about freezing the dough. I do that with chocolate chip cookies but never thought about it with Christmas cookies. And so much great help! Can't wait til my little one is old enough to really start helping.

Your niece is precious...and your mosaic is awesome! :)

LOVE the name Delilah! (And, what a doll, by the way.) After we named Sam, tho, I thought it would be a bit corny for our second...had Luke been a girl.

The baking collage is STUNNING, Colleen. So, so sweet!

I just love your collages, Colleen. So perfect! I love the idea of freezing and then baking them for "fresh" cookies. I don't know why I never thought of that! ;)

Delilah is a doll. I hope you take lots and lots of photos and do some serious practicing with all that serious adorableness!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and giving such a wonderful compliment to my little Tanner pup! I do think he is the cutest but I'm a bit biased. Thanks for sharing the mix and freeze idea with me, I think that is what I'll do this year. Merry Christmas!

I want to bake SO bad, but my oven is broken {sad face}. When it does get fixed, I will keep the make and freeze thing in mind :) And that sweet baby is adorable, and I love her name!

Your niece is so gorgeous! Congrats! And I totally agree about cookie making needing to be fun! They taste worse if you make them when you're grumpy!
