Seeing the light...

I may have once thought that photoshop was not for me.
(That may have been because I didn't know how to use it.)
But I'm slowly figuring it out
and this edit is the thing that finally made me see how awesome it could be.

In all honesty, the edited picture looks more like the reality that I saw on the day.
And what I wanted was a realistic edit... so there we go.
:)

I can't give specifics as to how I did it.
(I didn't keep track.)
But for those who want to know...
I sharpened Julia
I think I used a soft light, or maybe a boosting action.  (??)
And I added a slight vignette.

I think??

I used to be scared of photoshop. So many tools! Ahhh! But now I really enjoy editing. Your edit looks great!

Great job, Colleen! See you're getting the hang of it! That's the tricky thing about cameras that Bryan Peterson talks about: the objective reality that it's viewing as opposed to the subjective reality that we, with all our automatic filters, actually see. The trick is to get the camera to show what we see. Very tricky. And that's why photoshop is good for these adjustments. :)

Your edit is perfect - I find that PS makes it so much easier to display the reality that I was trying to capture.

IIIIIII LOOOOVVVEEE IIITTTT!!!!! Of course I love the SOOC too, but Photoshop gives you so many ways to even just clean things up. Beyoootiful! I'm still learning so if you ever want help (what I can give anyway) let me know :)

Taaa- daah! And you mastered the pardest part with this- making the edit look believeable. If I have a free moment today I'm planning on starting to download some actions into PS since I lost all my old ones when I lost PSE. This photo inspires me to do it!

Julia makes a great model, by the way :)

Great editing. I agree with how PS can help you get the reality of the image you captured.

I don't understand all these camera technical terms, SOOC, photoshop, bokeh...I just know I like what you did with Julia!

I love that you chose a warm light to highlight Julia's natural beauty. Gorgeous shot my friend. :)

Wow! You are inspiring me to learn how to edit photos. I've heard that Picnik is good, but I've never tried it. I have an older version of Photoshop - I should start experimenting. It is a beautiful edited photo of a beautiful girl! I love her expression.

Great edit! I love that the post-edit is much softer and warmer. My shots tend to have a blue cast that I usually have to fix in PS.

Tell Julia that I LOVE her green coat :D So cute.
