Pickin'

Halfway between Chicago and Des Moines is the town of Le Claire, Iowa
which just happens to be the place where the Mike and Frank from History Channel's
American Pickers have their shop.

We stopped there and ate our lunch at a picnic table alongside the Mississippi River.

Then we drove up to their little (and I do mean little!) storefront.

The place was full of people snapping pictures.

I left my "real" camera in the car, but took a few iphone pics.

It was fun to see some of the items that we remembered from the show.

But the prices were a bit high.
(Don't they know that we saw how much they paid for these things?!)

The guys were out of town doing what they do best... pickin.
And Danielle wasn't in the shop either.

So we settled on taking pictures with this guy.
:D

What fun! Love these pictures, especially the last one.

Isn’t the Mississippi impressive? I “learned” to water ski on it when I was younger. (I use the term “learned” loosely as on my first time out I was too scared to let go when I fell, and I was drug by the boat!)

I haven’t been to Le Claire but it looks like a lovely little town. (I believe they offer paddle boat rides on the river there as well, did you happen to see any?)

That is too cool!

P.S. We just moved across town, so I can't imagine your move, Colleen. Glad to see that you are definitely making the most of it!

So who was manning the shop? I remember the "big" guy from the show.

Oh, man ... I only live two hours from there and still haven't made a road trip to see the place. The pictures are great, and now I'll put it on our fall list to go there. Happy travels. And welcome to Iowa!
