Legos are awesome.
I'm pretty sure that it doesn't matter whether you are four, fourteen or forty,
there's a good chance that you'll feel the same.
In this case, my newly turned 14 year old, spent his birthday at a lego building exhibit at the National Building Museum.
There were large lego buildings to admire...
And a room full of loose legos to create his own architectural wonders.
This kept him, his sister and his 19yo friend quite happy for quite a while.
(Despite the fact that we have thousands upon thousands of our own legos at home that haven't been handled and or licked by the masses of children that have visited that exhibit previously!)
(Thank God for hand sanitizer.)
Later that evening, the waiters at the local Mexican restaurant surprised him with a song,
a sombrero, and a scoop of ice cream lit with a single candle.
He was so stunned that he began to eat while the candle was still lit.
"Uh, Grant? Are you going to blow it out?"
Grant has always had a knack for asking for unique birthday gifts.
One year it was a bust of Beethoven,
another year it was a couch.
This year he wanted lincoln logs (he's still a little boy at heart)
and
a blender.
Yes.... a blender.
Perhaps he wants to start a liquid diet?
Or maybe he just wants to make shakes and smoothies in his spare time...
one can never know what is going on inside of that mind of his. :)
But I love the way he thinks!!
Happy 14th Birthday!!
I'm linking this to You Capture as their theme this week is the letter "L".
