In the middle of a stressful afternoon, I was able to take some "me" time and play with both my camera and these very pretty marbles.
This is my favorite shot.
It focuses more on the shadow and the light shining through the marble than the marble itself.
But I liked the other pictures so well that I decided to make a collage and share all of them with you.
But wait! There's one more before I'm done...
My daughter was goofing off with her kaleidoscope and took a few pictures by putting the lens of the camera on the eyepiece. She was using the macro lens, so I thought I'd add this to my Macro Monday post.
This particular kaleidoscope has a clear lens, so it uses the items around you as the designs.
Can you guess what she used?
I guess this next picture will give it away, but I wanted to brag about her a bit more.
After a few failed attempts due to the dark house and a tendency to move the kaleidoscope as she was shooting, she came up with her very own homemade studio complete with paper cup tripod and printer paper backdrops.
I'm a proud mommy. (She's only 9 years old!)
Want to see more of her kaleidoscope creations?
And I'm actively soliciting comments on her blog, because it would absolutely make her day!!
Also check out the many other amazing macro's on Lisa's Macro Mondays.

Hi Colleen, you got it right. Hubby and I were at McDonald parking lot and I spotted this behind the car. I took a photo in macro mode it turns out alright. I like it when the rainbow is so vivid makes me wonder how come it happen like that. ^_^ Happy Macro MOnday!

Marvelous Colleen. I like them all but the first photo is the best. Kaleidoscopes were one of my favorite toys when I was a kid. They are so neat.
I love the marble shots and I love kaleidoscopes. Very intelligent your daughter you have there for figuring all that out. The shot came out great.
I wish I knew how to set this blog up so I could reply to each comment individually. I try to reply by e-mail if your e-mail addresses are attached. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented. Macro mondays are fun not only because I like to take macro shots, but because the people involved are so nice.
YOu are becoming quite the photographer...what a fun idea!
Wow! that first marble picture is so unusual and "cool". Love it.
Love the marble shots. They are just great! Your daughter displays great talent at an early age. She must be watching her mom with camera in hand. I am off to see her blog!
A kaleidoscope studio...now that's cool! Sounds like the mind of Julia hard at work...
I love the marble macro - so cool and really well captured!
GEna @ thinking aloud
Gorgeous! Being a "gurl" we never played the game, just collected marble for their wonderful colors and designs. Your photos bring back many memories and now I wonder what ever happened to all my marbles, I had 100s of them!
Wonderful close up shots of the marbles and I love the kaleidoscope experiment! :)
So neat the way the shadows and reflections are an intricate part of the photos. That first one is my favorite, too. You've got me wanting to go play with toys!
Lovin' Macro Monday,
