365/ robins egg blue

This has been a good week and the weekend is still full of fun and possibilities,
so yay!!

On Sunday: I attempted to get some photos of the "under the sea" tent in Julia's room,
but wound up being captivated by the sun flare instead.
This was my favorite shot because the sun flare filled the frame.

On Monday: I attempted to embrace winter by creating a centerpiece out of the dried branches
that I found in the yard.
In the right light, it looks gorgeous,
but most of the day, it just looks like a bunch of sticks in a vase.

On Tuesday it warmed up to a balmy 40 degrees.
It felt wonderful and we made the most of it by going for a bit of a walk
where I found this messy little cattail.

Wednesday was a snow day!
But wait....
there was no snow!

All day long all it did was rain and I wondered why on earth they canceled school for a little rain.
But... at exactly 2:15 (just when the high school students would be heading home)
it began to sleet like you've never seen sleet before.
Imagine one of the worst rains you've ever seen and replace the rain drops with those little sleet pellets.  We had a couple of inches on the ground in a matter of minutes.

Soon after that, the snow began and it was almost as fast and as furious as the sleet.

Not many hours and eight inches of snow later...
We finally got our winter wonderland.

So, on Thursday we had yet another snow day, but this time it was legit!

(I kind of have a thing about posting a picture twice in my blog.
I really don't like to do it.
Don't know why exactly, it just bugs me,
but it's hard to avoid when I'm doing these 365 wrap ups each week.
However, doing the collages like I have been has made it "okay" for me.
Somehow, if they're smaller and grouped with a bunch of other pictures
it's easier for me to overlook the fact that I've already posted the picture.
Anyhow... I knew that this photo might be my only chance to find something robins egg blue for the week
And I knew that I wouldn't be home on Saturday and wouldn't have access to my photos in order to make a collage.... so fine!
I'm reposting this one.)

And finally...
Friday we drove miles and miles through lots of snow to get to see those little toes.
I have great plans to take pictures of more than just her toes, but that's your sneak peek for now.

It's okay to post the same photo twice but only if it's a stunning photo. So, you squeaked by this time. Whew!

Those toes are just about edible!

oh oh oh bring on the baby shots!! The school update had me giggle- it always works that way doesn't it?!!! I had been meaning to send you an e-mail about your super fun Washington to Washington post. Washington State- wow!! What a transition, but at least the snow days will more likely than not be filled with- snow!!! I'm gonna be intrigued to follow your journey, but will you still come visit the east coast???!!!!!!!

Hey it's Cat from No Wooden Spoons. We recently moved from Omaha to Germany (military family) but Omaha is great! We loved living there. I would definitely say go to the zoo. It's a great zoo, the desert dome is really neat! We really loved the children's museum too! Heartland of America park is usually pretty nice too, with a big pond and lots of ducks to feed. If your family likes baseball, you could probably go to a College World Series game. Old Market is fun to walk at night and has some good restaurants to eat at. Of course there is also the live theater, malls, golf, things of that sort. Hope that helps with your trip this summer!

Those are so beautiful - I love the outdoor scenes and you made those little wild seedheads look so good. My favourite is your duckegg blue one.

so many great shots to love here!

just wanted to pass along this note i am sending to all who commented on my p.w. photos...

"just wanted to stop and say hello... i'm going through all the profiles of those who commented on my picture winter photos, and looking to see if they have blogs or flickr accounts {and if not, then sending an e-mail}... so that i can A) say thank you for the comments and feedback you gave me, and B) let them know i would love to stay in touch... especially to those who expressed interest in keeping up to date on what is happening with my pregnancy. since i can not remember all who asked, i thought i would just go through each profile and send a message. =)

i'll be updating my blog periodically with baby news... just in case you are interested:
