Committing to a 365? Scary!!!

I think I might have commitment issues.

I want to try out a 365 project.
(Take at least one picture every. single. day.)

But that seems like an awfully big commitment.

You might think that it wouldn't be,
but there are many, many, many days out of the year where I find myself cranky and uninspired.
I'll take one look at the camera and turn away again.

(It's like trying to dodge that old high school friend at the local Walmart.
You might know that she'd be fun to hang out with, but....
it's freakin Walmart and nothing good ever happens at a Walmart
so it's better to just look the other way and hope she doesn't see you there.)

But anyhow...

here I am...
Eight days into Picture Winter
which is a picture every day for the month of January.
I committed to that.
I paid money for them to send me an inspirational e-mail everyday with a prompt
like "rest" or "quiet beauty."

I'm enjoying the process (usually)
I haven't missed a day yet.
(Eight down and only 23 left to go)

But I don't know if I can make it to 365...
maybe I can make this a Project 31
with the hopes of a Project 28 in February
and if things are going really good another 31 in March.

(Is that right... thirty days hath sept, april, june and november.  Right?)

Yeah... that's what I'll do...
for now.

Maybe.

I like your idea... take it a month at a time. I could totally do a "project 31" but there's no way "365" would EVER happen. I'm a flake... what can I say?! ;)

Great photos. You APPEAR inspired. :D

Ummm.... these are gorgeous! I hope you keep it up. I can't wait to see more. Thanks for linking up!

I can agree with you :) Something about "Project 31" (or 28) sounds less...threatening than 365. Good luck, and hope you keep up with it - your pictures are awesome :)

I know exactly how you feel. But I finally made the commitment this year. We'll see how it goes! ;)

You'll be glad if you stick with it. Don't worry about those days when you don't take a pic. I took a pic almost every day in 2010, but the few times I didn't feel like it I just used a random flower or something from around my house because there were lots of left over pics from other days. Good luck with it! Your first week's collage is beautiful and I hope to see lots more from you!

You are so funny! I glad you committed to the month, at least. Cause let me tell you, your photos are BEAUTIFUL! Love the light. G.L.O.R.I.O.U.S.

ps - reason #22 why I don't ever go to Walmart. Nothing good can come of it :D

Love your take on Walmart ... I completely agree!

If you find a project 365 too much, perhaps a project 52? I see many who are committing to a photo a week instead. Just a thought.

I LOVE yours photos you took! I hope you can make it and I have the same scary commitment issues! I made it to 25 days last year when I tried which ALMOST made a month and something happened and I quit.

But I'm not gonna be really hard on myself this time, if i miss a day or so I'm not gonna freak, just pick up and do it again the next day! Your photos are beautiful!

I'm not crazy enough to even try a 365, lol. I just saw a friend doing a "52" photography thing. I could MAYBE do that, once a week. Though, in my You Capture yearly wrap up I really struggled to find *a* photo for September....

hahahaha, you made me laugh out loud! I'm also doing my first 365, and it does seem a little daunting. Your photos are awesome, and your writing is fantastic, so I hope you stick it out. Have a great week!

It is a BIG commitment!! But taking it one month at a time doesn't seem so bad! I love all of your photos, the lighting is so warm and welcoming! Lovely job!

That's a great idea! I would stress over what to do with them all at the end. I'm such a slacker with my pictures. I hope you stick with it, though! I'm sure you will!

It doesn't look like you had any cranky/uninpired days the first week. They're all fantastic!

Your photos are inspirational to someone like me who is just learning! I hope you keep taking more & more!

The sunset photo is gorgeous! Just love the colors!

I like the smaller commitment. I tried a scrapbook page a day and it lasted about a week, lol. I am doing a photo a day currently but only for a little while longer. :)

That would be great, because I SO love your photography! However, I tried that last year, and I failed. :-(
It lasted nearly six months until my mother turned ill and I had my mind elsewhere. But project 31 sounds like a great idea. One learns a lot taking a picture each day! Good luck!

My first 365 (in Aug) I failed... miserably. SO I started again and I'm on day 3 (starting on the day before my wedding anniversary) but I did it this time without telling anyone about it. This is just a personal goal.

I am afraid of the commitment, too.

I tried for a 365 project last year, and I made it up until about October. I got pregnant and fell off the picture a day wagon. I totally agree with you. Some days you just don't feel like taking pictures!

I wish you success!
