We saw some gorillas at the zoo.
But my favorite monkeys were the ones that I brought with me.
The eagle just begged to be crawled upon,
but Julia needed a little extra help.
Doesn't that statue remind you of Sam the Eagle from the muppets?
"Greetings, I am Sam the American Eagle."
Now I'm not sure how patriotic flamingoes and Kori Bustards are,
(that's a "u" not an "a" so we're still all family friendly around here)
but they are pretty cool to look at,
even if the Kori wanted to peck my eyes out.
Scary!
Quincy helped rectify the fact that they don't have any Giraffes at the National Zoo
and Julia did her best super star impression.

From what I remember, I've never actually seen a Gorilla. I know they have them at the Ft. Worth Zoo, and we plan on taking a trip there sometime this spring. I keep trying to hype the kids up for the Gorillas, but its quite obvious that the only one excited about them is me, hee hee.
Ohhh I'm jealous! The national zoo looks like more fun than the Detroit Zoo (Go figure, eh?)
The baby gorilla was just too cute. And your little monkeys looked like they had a blast. I'm sure you did, too.
Even with the Detroit Zoo being the way it is I'm still looking forward to going in spring or early summer.
Looks like fun!
Fun times at the zoo! It's the kind of place you can take all ages and know each will be entertained, huh?! Glad you kept it family friendly and seriously, who first discovered and named the poor bird that??!!!
if that bird has always been one to peck peoples eyes out i bet you it's name started out with the other spelling and someone changed it along the way so as not to shock the sensibilities of the genteel public!!! we birders are a sensitive folk! i love that baby gorilla...i want to see him my self. hurry and get you and your monkies up here.
Birds scare me. Just so you know... but Sam doesn't. And yes, that eagle statue totally reminds me of Sam. Thanks for that giggle. =)
How adorable your children are, and the pictures show so much!
