When you're a 10 year old girl,
there's not a lot of things that are much more fun than a horse show.
Hanging around with horsey people.
Making new friends and loving on the ponies.
Getting some last minute instruction
and dodging all of the people as you warm up.
It's so much fun that even the horses have something to smile about.
But someone forgot to tell this lady how much fun she was having. ;)
Those early morning start times can catch up with you.
And the judges...
they take things so seriously!
(ummm... you think she noticed me? ooops.)
Even learning the courses can be fun.
You just have to decide whether you are going to go around the standards or take a flying leap!
Remembering is the hard part.
Or, maybe, waiting your turn is even harder.
Of course, the whole hot and sticky thing isn't all that pleasant.
But it's so worth it in the end!

I felt like I was there... except I couldn't smell any horsey smells. Great coverage of the event. =)
Look at the joy on her face in the last shot. Fun is an understatement!
Love it! She looks so happy :) I love the pic of the horse smiling!! Priceless!
She looks like she had fun! And she looked at ease on that horse! The yawning lady is funny!
You are raising such intelligent and adorable children. Good job mama! Oh and these pictures are adorable. I felt like I was right there. I especially like the picture where Julia had her had up and was concentrating. Great shot! Sure looks fun :)
SIGH. I just love horses. I've always wanted one. Alas, I'm afraid one wouldn't do well in my little, suburban subdivision backyard :( Our community has mounted police, so that's the closest I ever get. Your daughter might be only 10, but she looks so professional as she's riding!
This flashes me back to being 10 myself! There really is nothing better for a 10 year old girl than a horse show! I LOVE the photo of the white horse "smiling."
i love these pictures she looks great on that horse and i really love the shot of her jumping the course.
She makes riding looking effortless!
Awwww, she looks like having so much fun! So cute and yay horses!
I love your narrative! :O)
What a wonderful series of shots. Growing up I had a friend who did horse shoes. She was completely into it and it took up most of her weekends, but she loved it. In fact, she still has horses and still shows them from time to time.
Loved the shots!
She is so into this! I love the pic where she is jumping the poles. The tired lady and judge pics got a chuckle from me. I enjoyed your story to go along with your pictures.
What fun for a kid! I didn't do much riding as a child, but I think I would have found the fun in it!
My little sister has gotten into riding, and she LOVES it. These are great shots!
Reminds me of when I owned my own horse as a young girl. Good times.
I haven't gotten to ride for years!

That does look like fun. I love all your shots.
Fabulous post! I loved both the photos and the commentary!
Great photos!! What fun. You seem to do a lot of cool stuff with your kids. That's awesome!
Great shots ~ love the whole thing :D Looks like great fun! :D
My almost 12 year old made an "awwww" sound that only an almost 12 year old girl who has seen another little girl on a horse can make.
And the close up of the horse's face cracked me up! He looks like he's snickering.
