PhotoHunt August

My blog, my camera and I have not been on speaking terms this week.
Don't know why exactly... I think it's me, but I can't be sure.

Anyhow... I do want to post the results of August's photo hunt.
Most of the pictures were taken while we were on vacation in early August,
but I had to pull a couple from the archives.

A flag that represents you in some way...
The flag is the original Navy jack and considering my title as Navy wife, I suppose it represents me.
Plus, I've been feeling a little out of sorts lately, so I think those around me should probably take heed of the message on the flag.  ;)

Something comfortable...
I've said it before and I'll say it again... best place on earth!

Something in season...
Blueberries were in season while we were in Maine and we picked lots of them.

Feet...
Not much to say except that I love the reflection in this pic.

Repetition...
Not only are the bouys repetitive, but this site repeats itself all around Maine.
I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed to live in Maine without at least one of these decorating your house/lawn.

Culture or ethnicity...
Yes, I did take this on my vacation... in Maine!

Contrast...
Dark trees, bright light... and if you can come up with any other way that this falls under the category of "contrast" feel free to run with it (and fill me in too!)

Indulgence...
How often do you indulge on a three pound hardshell lobster?
Not very often, I think.

Macro or Close-up

Something masculine....
I didn't think I had a picture for this category, but then there was this picture of my husband.
Love that he spends his time at the beach juggling rocks.  :)
Not that juggling makes him masculine... he just is.  ;)

Something feminine...
It's a flower... whatever....

Light...
Sunrise in the harbor.

Eco friendly...  (from the archives)
The ingredients for homemade laundry soap.

Business...
The Beach Cliff fisherman has been a fixture in Prospect Harbor for many, many years.
Sadly, this business, the last sardine factory in America, closed  earlier this year.
(Not that I actually eat sardines... ewwww.)

An Arrow...
I decided that my arrow shot was a little dull, so I mixed it up a bit... literally.

Something wet...
This seagull seemed to enjoy getting splashed by the crashing waves.

Something dry...

A butterfly... (from the archives)

A heart shaped cloud...
Now, technically, this isn't a heart-shaped cloud, more of a heart inside of a cloud,
but I still really liked it and hoped it would fit the theme.

Strength...
This picture makes me laugh.  :D
I love how his sister stands on his shoulder like his own personal angel (devil?)  conscience.
But what he was actually doing was showing me Thunder...
his other bicep is named Lightning.

I do not make this stuff up!

"It's a flower... whatever..." :D

Thunder and lightning? Maybe your son is related to my son?!!!

The sunrise shot is priceless... I love how you caught the light so beautifully. Amazing! That's a print right there!!!

Glad to see you're back. Hope you and Blog work out your differences.

"Don't tread on me"- MY FAVORITE FLAG shot. Seriously, hands down my favorite. Bravo Colleen!

moving on... Love your masculine shot (I almost put a pic of Nicks collarbone, but I don't know how he would feel about that)... Love your butterfly. Contrast could double for comfortable (oh wait, it did! and I love them both!) Hmmm... My favorite is obviously the flag so my 2nd fave would go to... YOUR MACRO!!! Black eyed susans are my favorite flower. I plan on having a garden FULL of them once we move.

I love this post! My favorite is the feet(whose are they?) and Grant's Mr. Atlas shot. Your commentary cracked me right up--Thunder, Lightning--oh my gosh!

Thunder and Lightening - perhaps some of the best names for parts of the body that I've heard in a long time. My favourite from your hunt is the sunset - beautiful

Great shots! I love them all! I think that my favorites are your shots for repetition and something wet! I love them and I also love Maine! Also enjoyed your indulgence photo (do you know how to hypnotize a lobster before you cook him?)! Your butterfly shot is simply gorgeous and your photo for strength is great, it made me giggle!

you're pictures are great, but I almost love the commentary more! 'it's a flower... whatever' LOL... it's actually quite feminine - curves, beautiful, delicate. Thunder and Lightening?! Where do kids come up with this stuff? Nice work!
