One of my newer bloggy friends, one who happens to live in one of my favorite places in the world (Seattle) has been hosting a photo challenge.
I scoured through my most recent shots, and it took a while before I found anything that said "summer" to me. But then I found this guy.
Summer is hot and it brings out all sorts of bugs.
(like the ants in my house! Erghh!)
While I'd really rather not be stung, bees definitely have their place in this world and I kind of like them.
You can check out some other summery shots here.
In case you are wondering... I've managed to catch a mouse.
I'd like to think that that was the only one, but we'll see what happens tonight.

The details are amazing! I'm looking at the wing and the sun's reflection in its eye.
oh good...i called tonight but you were at bloom....i just wondered if you were ok
Excellent shot of the bee, Colleen!
I like bees too as long as they realize that I am not a flower and I prefer to know where they are at all times, lol. Beautiful capture - definitely a summer vibe!
I hope other mousey friends stay away!!:)
And as much as I HATE any insect and seeing them gives me the eeby jeebies, this photo is awesome!!
Great macro shot, Colleen. Perfect focus and great composition.
My little dude got stung by a bee Thursday night. Apparently he thought it was a butterfly and tried to pick it up. (I can laugh about it now)
Great shot... wow! What lens did you use for this?
Gorgeous! Wait... I can't believe I called a bee gorgeous! :) They are everywhere right now and I am terrified of a sting.
So long as they stay in amazing photos I am happy. Thanks for linking up, blog friend!
You've gotten my favorite combo: bee and clover! It screams summer for sure.
